Hiring a band
Festive occasions and events to remember are made into the best memories by live music. The excitement that a band can bring to a celebration or family event is hard to match. The problem is hiring a band to match the occasion. Here are some things to think over.
What are you celebrating? Is it a formal or casual event and how do you expect to dress? The type of music will match the event and most bands advertise their specialties. Has this band sold any Cd’s ? Are they popular and are they available and affordable.
The band needs to be dependable and keep appointments. You also want to get references, including character references about the band’s reputation and eliminate any “drama” from the performance. They are working for you and your expectations come first. Too many celebrations have been ruined by”prima donna” attitudes from musicians. Still, things can happen that are unavoidable. Have a backup plan: an on-call DJ or friend who does DJ work, a good portable stereo and sound system and a selection of music that fits the day will keep the party going and try to laugh it off. Have a refund system for any deposits if there is a cancellation as well. After all this should be fun.
